Family Services of Davidson County 10k Course Preview

I'm really going to try harder to take more pictures of the courses I measure. I got two this time, but my knee hurt like crazy and it was getting really cold. This 10k loop course takes runners on a tour of Rural "North" Lexington. It starts and finishes in the parking lot of the Family Services of Davidson County Office at 1303 Greensboro Street Extension.

The course runs north on Greensboro Street Extension, a 2 lane road, then turns left on Ridge Road, before another quick left onto City Lake Road. While on City Lake Road, the runners have a steep downhill then a gradual climb up past the scenic lake, on the right.

Once past the lake, the course descends briefly before climbing up to the high point where runners turn left on Hill-Everhart Road for a long descent on this two-lane rural road. Watch out for dogs on this road, I was chased by three, and save a little bit for the final uphill before the left turn back onto Greensboro Street Extension and the last quarter mile before the finish.

You'll retrace your steps within the parking lot before reaching the finish and refreshments at the end. The race date is May 12th this year and a link to registration will be posted here and here when they're updated.

Uphill start! Guess that will keep you from going out too quick...

Downhill finish is nice though :-)
